🤩 Today’s SPIN® Behaviour Challenge

Anyone can make a benefit statement. Without proof, it’s just noise.

“We help companies reduce costs.”

“Our solution increases productivity.”

“Clients see ROI within 90 days.”

Sound familiar? Your competitors are saying the exact same thing.

In the absence of proof, every benefit sounds like a pitch. And every pitch triggers resistance.

The Credibility Gap

Huthwaite’s research identified a pattern that separates top performers from average ones.

Average sellers lead with features. Then defend them when challenged.

Top performers never let it get that far.

They support every benefit statement with one of two things:

1. Proof: “A CFO in your sector reduced approval cycles by 40% using exactly this approach — here’s what changed.

2. A question instead of a claim: “What would a 20% reduction in onboarding time mean for your Q3 targets?”

The second move is pure SPIN®. Instead of claiming the benefit — you let the client feel it through a Need-Payoff question.

You don’t need to prove what they’ve already concluded themselves.

THE CHALLENGE

Take your three strongest benefit statements.

The ones you use every week.

Now ask: “What’s my proof — or what’s my question?” If you have neither: you don’t have a benefit statement. You have an opinion.

Replace each unsupported claim with either a client story or a Need-Payoff question that makes the benefit real.

Claim it and they doubt you. Prove it and they believe you. Question it and they convince themselves.

Drop “PROOF” in the comments if you’re upgrading your benefit statements today 👇
